October 2, 2013 Meet Bea

From Melina

We were given a list of what the children like to eat, and since I did not have those types of snacks on hand, we stopped at the store first to buy some crackers - nothing like making your kid like you because you are giving her a treat.  We got there after her nap and stayed around an hour. We were placed in a separate room with Bea and Nergui, the little boy that Jessica is adopting.  Bea was NOT comfortable to be near me. She warmed up enough not to cry when the nanny left, but was nowhere near letting me pick her up to sit on my lap or hold her.  As you can see, she is just beautiful. She liked the snack, but she really liked a  little bracelet that came with a purse that I bought. She held the bracelet and cracker for a long time and did not eat the cracker until a drink came. She let go of the bracelet enough to eat, but after that, no way was she letting go of the bracelet. She finally warmed up to me that she would hand me the toys including the pink bracelet. The nanny says that she is very bright and smart, but very bossy and stubborn.  Kids, we may have WW III start in our family and I am not talking about me.  She likes to asses the situation and observe, not one to jump right in. She knows what she likes and wants. She would not let me have the bracelet and would put it behind her back or up high, I was trying to put it on her wrist, I finally was able to, but then I had to take it right off.

I find it interesting that she eats food with her left hand, but will hold things in her right.  The cracker started in her right hand, but she really did not eat it. Even when she did not have anything in either hand, she would pick the cracker crumbs with her left hand.

So, what you have been really waiting for...
