October 18, 2013 , Sweet and Not so sweet

From Melina

I think if I let her, Bea would sleep until 9 or 10:00. At this time, she in not a morning person. It takes a few minutes to wake her up and then we snuggle for a while, get dressed and go down for breakfast with the empty Bonaqua bottle. Now, for some reason, she does not like the elevator and cries and kicks when I carry her on it, but once we are in and the door is closed, she is fine. Go figure.

I put a little Eucerin lotion on her cheeks and when I have the lotion, she points to her cheeks.

Today, I fed her rice mixed with a dip in egg - like, canned peaches and pears - don't like and won't eat, bread with butter - like, apple juice - like, yogurt like. I then got myself a hard boiled egg, two pieces of toast and orange juice and ate her fruit. Bea then proceeded to eat my toast. Today, she would only sit on my lap and when I tried to put her in her own chair, she cried and held her arms out for me to pick her up saying big sister (this should have told me how the day was going to be).

After breakfast, we went back to the apt. and played. I got her ready for the SOS (by the way that is the name) appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 11:30 and May picked us up at 11:45, and I was not even stressed - see how well I am going with the flow. Bea sat real good on my lap holding her bottle as we waited for May. Anyway, Bea proceeded to fall asleep in the car for about 5 mins. and then when we went in for the tb test, we had to fill out paperwork and then the doctor came to review her charts. I was surprised when the doctor pulls out a needle to giver her the test. She would NOT give up the bottle, May tried to take the bottle and she shook her head no, arched her back and made a crying noise. Guess who got to hold her down while the doctor gave her a shot. She cried a little bit and I gave her a few cheerios when it was over and she was fine. The doctor said that I had to keep her in long sleeves, not to let the area wet or put on any bandage, and especially she should not scratch the area. She did not touch her arm once, instead she is scratching her cheeks. The doctor said the shot would not do any harm, but I am apt to disagree with him. We went back to the hotel to pick up Jessica and her to two sons for lunch.

We went to the Veranda, it was full when we got there, and both babies fell asleep before we got to the restaurant which only took about 10 mins. to get there, so we waited about 5 mins. and was then seated. My sweet, docile, adorable, minding child woke up to be a crabby, temper tantrum, making a mess, crying, not eating child. UGH! She would not sit in a high chair, nor a regular chair only wanted to sit on my lap, which would have been fine if she was not throwing everything(food) in front of her on the floor. I ordered chicken soup (from what little I ate, it was good) and no way was she trying that, bread, she just tore it up and threw it to the floor, we ordered juice - did not want, I had sprite, she did not like that, She would then arch her back backward and cry so I set her down on the floor and she cried even more, got up and wanted to be held. But then she would cry again. It was not a fun lunch. I gave her cheerios which she ate and I gave a few to Jessica's boys and she did not like that at all. May would speak to her in Mongolian and still she was determined to be stubborn and not eat nor sit by herself. During lunch time she proceeded to kick off her boots and would not put them back on. So, choosing my battle, I did not put them on and carried her to the car. Since she was so noisy, I decided to head out to the car before the rest. I made sure to stand in the sun, which then makes it warmer and kept her hood up. She had on stockings and pants that were too long for her, so I figured she would be ok. We were waiting about a couple of  mins. and a Mongolian woman came over pointing to her lack of boots. I pointed that we are getting into the car. Everyone showed up a couple of minutes later and we got into the car. She did not fall asleep, but was close.

When we got to the hotel, I laid her down with her bottle, but she did not go to sleep. So, no nap today. She was just wild. We played, I gave her a snack, and then I put in the microwave a potato and put butter on it. She liked that. I then heated up pizza for myself and had some Pringles - she would not try the pizza, but LOVED the chips - yes, she is my child. She was shoving them in her mouth. For the fun of it, I put her in the stroller to see how well she would be in it and she was fine.

Since she did not have a nap, I put her to bed early and she fell to sleep pretty quickly holding her bottle.

It was a rough night of sleeping for both of us. It is almost 8:00 a.m. and she is nowhere close to waking up. I fell asleep and next thing I am awaken by her kicking me in the back. She was restless the whole night. Of course, I am not sleeping as well as normal because I have to make sure she is not going to roll off the bed. The first two nights she was real good about staying in the enclosed area or next to me, but last night she was all over the bed. She must have been having some bad dreams because a couple of times she would be rolling her whole body no, kicking and yelling. It was not a restful night.

I did not take any pictures today.

Saturday, we don't have anything planned. Maybe it will be a better day.

  2. I'm exhausted just reading this. What a day! Liam still has lots of days and nights like this. They are not fun. You are doing so great, Melina. Little Bea is so lucky to have you. Will be so much easier to manage the difficult days when you are back home:)

  3. Well, I'm thinking a small jigger of Vodka might be the night cap needed by you both. When Bea doesn't drink hers, it's your bonus to a good nights sleep. You are doing well, Melina. More patience and tenacity then I would have...
